Challenge yourself with an underground caving adventure in the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons! Groups from Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham can try caving within an hour or so from home!
Our South Wales caving adventures take place either beneath the mountains close to Abergavenny and Brynmawr, or further afield in the Waterfall Country around Ystradfellte. With active streamways running through some of these caves, the natural beauty of the cave environment is second to none.
We’ll supply you with the essentials of a protective oversuit, safety helmet, headlamp, protective kneepads and caving belt along with the enthusiasm and experience of a local qualified cave leader. The South Wales caves are wetter in nature; either way it’s a good idea to bring a change of clothing for afterwards.

We may be biased, but we believe our carefully chosen instructors are the best around. All of our qualified cave leaders are very familiar with the site and have a real passion for the activity. We’re selective about which instructors we use, so that you have the best South Wales and Forest of Dean caving experience possible.

For our South Wales caving sessions, we use one of a number of caves close to Abergavenny, Brynmawr or Brecon. That means you can enjoy a caving adventure at locations right across South East Wales and the Forest of Dean.
We run half day (typically 9-12.30 or 1.30-5.00) or full day caving sessions. Timings include the approach to and from the cliffs, which consists of rough and uneven tracks for some sites. This can take around 25 minutes in each direction depending on venue, conditions underfoot and personal fitness.
Footwear must be well fitted, secured to the foot and have a good tread capable of dealing with mud, rocks and slippery surfaces. Footwear worn should provide a good level of support and protection across the foot from rocks both underneath and on top of the foot. In some cases supple walking boots or ‘adventure/outdoor’ shoes could be worn. Old trainers, daps, wetsuit booties and sandals with insufficient tread are not appropriate. If you do not have appropriate footwear you will not be allowed to participate in the activity. Long sleeved tops and trousers are advisable to help protect you from scuffs and scrapes and we’ll provide you with a protective oversuit for the session.
If you need / use any medication such as asthma inhalers or emergency auto injectors for allergies, these must be brought with you. We’re unable to take participants who have declared any emergency medication unless they have it with them on the day. There is a café on site close to the car park, but it’s advisable to bring a snack and drinks for during the activity. Sun cream may be advisable for the walk to and from the cave depending on the weather forecast.
The activity is physically demanding in nature and involves walking along rough and uneven ground to reach the start point, strenuous activity inside the caves and a rough climb back up to the car park. If you have pre-existing medical conditions that may be aggravated by this, you must declare them to us in advance of the activity. If there is any doubt regarding your fitness to participate or whether your condition could be aggravated by your participation we will ask you to provide written confirmation from a GP or healthcare specialist that you are not considered at risk by participating. Participants under the age of 18 must have signed consent to take part from their own legal guardian in advance of the activity.
